About Neutrogena Acne System

The Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System is a three-part skin care system, containing the two most-recommended non-prescription acne medicines. The system includes an acne cleanser and an acne control lotion, along with a sun protection lotion. The items have the same active ingredients as several other products on the market.

  1. Cleanser

    • The first item in the Neutrogena acne system is a skin polishing cleanser containing salicylic acid, which unclogs pores and prevents further clogging. The cleanser also has microfine beads to gently remove dead skin cells.

    Caution

    • The cleanser contains an alpha hydroxy acid which can increase sensitivity to sun and the possibility of sunburn.

    Sun Protection

    • The Neutrogena acne system includes a product to counteract the sun sensitivity effects of the cleanser. This is a sun shield day lotion with a sun protection factor, or SPF, of 15.

    Overnight Lotion

    • The overnight acne control lotion contains benzoyl peroxide, a common and effective acne treatment. This ingredient can cause skin dryness and irritation.

    Potential

    • Neutrogena states that this three-part acne system is clinically proven to reduce acne-producing bacteria within 48 hours.
