Dry cracked skin is a warning sign that the body lacks certain vitamins and minerals. If skin is scaly, evaluate Vitamin A,C,E and B-Complex intake. Dark leafy vegetables, organ meats and fresh fruits are good sources of these skin nutrients. Also, use topical forms of these vitamins to heal the existing problems on the face, lips, body, hands and feet.
Cocoa Butter and Coconut Oil
Cocoa butter mixed with coconut oil makes a cream that soothes and heals cracked skin on the body due to sun damage. Do not use on the face.
Beeswax, Lanolin and Caster Oil
Gently melt together equal amounts of beeswax, lanolin and caster oil in a heat safe container. Let mixture cool and apply to cracked lips.
Vitamin E and Almond Oil
Mix together Vitamin E oil and almond oil to treat cuticles on fingers and toes. Soak hands and feet in warm water and smooth on oil.
Mash an avocado and apply to face and body for 15 minutes. Avocado charges the skin's own natural oil production and heals dry skin.
Bananas are high in potassium and Vitamin A which are components missing in dry skin. Put a mashed banana on the face for 15 minutes and then rinse.
Egg Yolks and Honey
Beat an egg yolk with some honey and apply to face for 10 minutes. Honey contains vitamins and minerals that smooth skin and egg yolks have lecithin which is similar to Vitamin E.
Yogurt and Lemon Juice
Make a cleanser of plain yogurt mixed with lemon juice. Dairy is known to soothe and hydrate skin while the Vitamin C in the lemon juice will restore skin's balance.
