- The school opened in 1987 under the umbrella of the Professional Career Development Institute, commonly known as PCDI. Ashworth College was formerly known as Ashworth University.
- Ashworth College runs on a semester system and has upwards of 3,000 students. As of 2009, full-time tuition is $1,200 per semester. The school is private and has open admission. Ashworth College is accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools.
- Administered entirely online and through correspondence, Ashworth College offers Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees. Programs fall into the schools of Business, General Studies, Health Care, Information Technology and Legal Studies. Within each school, there are a variety of specializations and course offerings.
- Career diplomas are generally shorter programs designed specifically for a particular job or aptitude. They are offered in the same schools as the degree programs.
- Ashworth College also offers nationally accredited high school diplomas through correspondence or online. Students can either enroll in a diploma program or take single courses at a time. College prep courses are also available.
