US Army Basic Training Locations

As of February, 2009, four U.S. army bases conduct basic combat training.

  1. Fort Jackson

    • Fort Jackson is in South Carolina. It is the largest army basic combat training base in the United States, training 70% of all incoming women and 50% of all incoming army recruits.

    Fort Benning

    • Fort Benning, located in Georgia, is home of the 192d Infantry Brigade. Their mission is to conduct basic combat training for the U.S. army.

    Fort Sill

    • Fort Sill is in Oklahoma. As the only active U.S. army fort built in the southern plains during the Indian Wars, it has been designated as a historic landmark.

    Fort Knox

    • Fort Knox, near Louisville, Kentucky, is responsible for training all armor soldiers.

    Note

    • Although these four posts are responsible for all United States army basic training, other posts offer specific training, such as officer training, for soldiers who have graduated basic training.
