Losing a loved one is a difficult and tragic situation to deal with. Whether the death results from a long illness or is sudden and unexpected, it can be very hard for family and friends to cope with the loss of a loved one. Although there isn't anything to take away the pain that death leaves on surviving loved ones, there are ways to cope and continue on with life.

    Effects

  1. Some people are able to cope with the loss of a loved one, but others, such as children or a spouse, may have a hard time dealing with it.
  2. Considerations

  3. Don't hesitate to seek grief counseling and therapy or find a support group to help surviving friends and family members cope with the loss (see Resources below).
  4. Misconceptions

  5. People can never be prepared for the emotional grief that comes with the loss of a loved one, even if they know the person is dying.
  6. Warning

  7. Try not to take your grief out on others because it can cause a rift over a situation that was not anyone's fault.
  8. Theories/Speculation

  9. Some people believe that after a person dies, he moves on to an afterlife or possibly is reincarnated.
