Bass fishing is considered one of America's pastimes. For some, it is merely a way to spend an afternoon outside. For others, it is serious business. In either case, there are some basic facts that every fisherman should know.

  5. During warm weather, you are more likely to catch bass using large bait, and during cool weather you are more likely to catch bass using small bait, due to the seasonal metabolic changes in bass.

  7. Because a bass has increased senses, the fish are aware almost instantly when new objects, such as bait, are introduced into their surroundings, which means bait and tackle should be chosen selectively, as frequent introductions of different items will cause the fish to flee the area.

  9. On June 2, 1932, George Perry, fishing on Montgomery Lake in Georgia caught a hybrid bass that weighed in at 22 lbs 4 oz, which holds the longest-standing record for the largest bass ever caught.
