Facts on Strength Training
Strength training focuses on the overall development of muscular strength. There are a variety of ways to undergo strength training and many athletes see it as an important part of their overall fitness regimen. Weight and simply health conscious exercise mavens often participate in strength training simply for its own sake, not to further another sport in which there are participating.

Types
-
There are different types of strength training. Most commonly they are divided into two broad sectors: strength training by relying solely on gravity, and strength training with the help of hydraulics. The latter has the potential to cross the line into actual resistance training.
Features
Effects
-
The goal of most strength training exercises is an increase in the size of the muscles, an increase in the athlete's muscle strength, and also an overall increase in bodily endurance. This endurance also serves to cut down on muscle related injuries during other workouts not associated with strength training.
Benefits
-
The benefits of strength training go beyond an increase in strength and endurance. Athletes with a regular strength training regiment experience fewer joint pains, overall better cardiovascular fitness, a reduction in cholesterol and even healthier ligaments.
Warning
-
It is tempting to simply hit the gym and start lifting weights. This has actually led to many warnings that seek to keep prospective strength training athletes safe while they are engaging in weight lifting regiments. The temptation to do too much too soon is great, and while the intentional overload of muscle groups is part of strength training, it must be approached gradually.
Prevention/Solution
-
Avoid pulled muscles and much more serious injuries by beginning your workout with a gradual warm-up and also basic stretching exercises. If you are a complete novice, it is a good idea to work with a personal trainer for one or two sessions, or at least until you understand how to begin your strength training regimen and how to gradually increase the resistance.
