Private school grants are used for educational purposes for those students who want to attend a private school but cannot afford to financially pay the costs. Grants can sometimes be hard to obtain, as many of the resources they come from are limited with their funding. Some grants come from private benefactors or churches.

    Significance

  1. Grants are provided to help a child in need with part or all of his school tuition and, unlike a loan, does not have to be paid back.
  2. Types

  3. There are two types of grants available: "Need-based," which is based on the financial situation of a family, and "merit-based," which is based on a child's talent, such as academics or athletics.
  4. Time Frame

  5. Normal private school grants take at least 4 to 6 weeks to process, although actual processing time also depends on the school.
  6. Features

  7. The best way to find private government grants is to look on the Internet, as that is where most of them are listed; however, you should also check the financial aid office at the school you attend.
  8. Expert Insight

  9. Write down the deadlines for each grant you are applying for--if you miss a deadline, you will have to wait until next year.
