Types

There are basically two types of car paint: metallic and pearl. You may not be aware of the difference at first view, although pearl paint tends to have a light sheen to it, especially under sunlight.

Function

Car paint is not only an aesthetic add-on. It also protects the car body from the elements, preventing rust and oxidation.

Warning

Car paint streaks easily, which makes it harder to apply by any method other than spraying.

Considerations

Chipping car paint should be repaired as soon as possible, as it allows humidity and dirt particles to get in between the coat of paint and the body of the car. This causes further damage that may not be obvious to the eye for some time.
