Here’s a quickie I thought was too good not to share: If you’re still caught up in the Harlem Shake craze, I’ve found a way to easily make your own video. You don’t need to have any video editing skill. You don’t even need to own a video editing program. Heck, you don’t even need to have a copy of the Harlem Shake song. All you need is an iPhone and a free app.
Of course, this might sound like Latin to you if you don’t know about the Harlem Shake meme. In a nutshell, about two million people have created and posted videos like this one:
They all follow the same basic model, which starts with a single masked person dancing alone. Then, at the midpoint crescendo in the song, there’s a change of scene and a slew of people go nuts during the freak-out phase of the song.
The app is very easy to use. Tap Record in the top video box to create a 15-second clip of the lone dancer. You’ll hear a preview of the music to help choreograph the action. Then tap Record in the second box for the group video, again with preview music. If you like what you see, a third tap automatically combines the two bits into a completed video.
From there, the app lets you save the video or post it online. Becoming an Internet celebrity has never been so easy.
