DIY Fashion: Creating with Style and Self-Expression

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the creative potential of the human mind. With just a few supplies and some elbow grease, a person could essentially create something from nothing. Furthermore, that something can go in a million different directions. An individual’s creation can be driven by so many aspects — personal experiences, memories, preferences, personality, interests. In turn, the finished result can represent a person better than anything else.

By itself, fashion is a great way to express yourself. Throw in the crafty part, and you have the ultimate form of self-expression. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but there is nothing out there that will represent yourself more than something you have created.

For me, DIY fashion is more than just emulating designers or adding more pieces to my closet. It allows us to have say in each and every step in the creation of something that expresses us. As a DIY blogger and author at Studs & Pearls, I’ve been sharing my ideas since 2010.

I am thrilled to extend my craftiness to eHow, offering exclusive one-of-a-kind fashion projects ranging in type and skill level — including stylish sunglasses, eye-catching clutches, and unique clothing ideas. I encourage you to add your own personal flair to each and every project; make it your own.
