Dip Dyed Neon Sneakers to Kick It In

eHow Style Blog

Time to kick off my DIY projects for eHow, and what better way then with a pair of ombre neon sneakers! Neon was a huge trend last summer, and we are still seeing it on the runway for upcoming seasons. The classic sneaker is also having a major moment in the fashion world, so I thought it was the perfect item to give a makeover with an electric hue. Dip dying is one of my favorite DIY processes, as seen here and here. Check out the steps below for an even easier way to get the look.

What you need:
-Sneakers — I love these white ones by Bangs (20% of the proceeds go to help entrepreneurs around the world start small businesses)
TumbleDye
-Painter’s tape

Step 1. Tape off the sole and rubber toe area.

Step 2. Spray the bottom 3/4 of your sneaker. Hold the bottle further away from the shoe as you move your way up to get the ombre effect.

Step 3. Pull off tape.

Step 4. Put your shoes in the dryer for 30 min to seal in the dye. Done!
