4 Makeup Trends to Try This Fall

Runway makeup trends often look too edgy for “real life,” but simple adjustments can make them more wearable. I chose four of my favorite Fall 2014 makeup trends to show you, and I am going to share with you the products I used to achieve the looks.

1. Winged Liner

Cat Eyeliner Trend

Winged liner is practically always on trend, but this fall it is supposed to be elongated, paired with fresh skin and barely any other makeup. For an every day, more wearable interpretation of this trend, avoid a long flick. Instead, line your upper lid with a intensely pigmented black eye pencil, like the Alima Pure Natural Definition Eye Pencil in Ink, or if you prefer, use a liquid liner like the Zuzu Luxe Raven Liquid Liner. Position the line as close to your lash line as possible and, once you reach the outer corner, wing it slightly upwards.

Keep the rest of your makeup simple, with a touch of pink on your cheeks and lips (I used the Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Embrace), a touch of highlighter on your cheekbones (I used Kjaer Weis Highlighter in Radiance), and a few coats of your favorite mascara.

For nighttime, or if you simply prefer more intense eye makeup, you can line the lower lash line to add a little extra drama to your look.

2. Pop of Color

Pop of Color2

Perhaps the most fun look this fall is the pop of color. It can be as easy as using a brightly colored eye shadow or switching your black eyeliner with a blue one. I kept the same makeup I showed you above, but I applied a teal eye shadow along my lower lash line. The eye shadow I used is the Jane Iredale Eye Shadow in Magic, and I applied it with a soft pencil brush by Goss Makeup Artist.

3. Bold Lips and Brows

Bold Lips and Brows

Bold lips quickly create a fall-appropriate makeup look. Whether you choose a red, berry, fuchsia or wine hue, keep the rest of your makeup simple and fill in your eyebrows to make them look fuller. I defined my eyebrows with Lavera All Brows Eyebrow Pencil, and the bright lipstick I am wearing in the photo is Around The World by Ilia Beauty.

4. Metallic Touches

Metallic Touch Trend

Metallic eyeshadow is one of the biggest trends this fall, but it is slightly more difficult to wear than others. Too much strong shimmer can make you look overdone. Unless that’s what you’re going for, simply add a touch of metallic eye shadow at the inner corners of your eyes. I used Alima Pure Eye Shadows in the shade Breathless, which can also double as a face highlighter for warm skin tones.

Will you try any of these makeup trends this fall?
