Creating Memories: The Baby Book
In an effort to create memories for my baby girl before she’s even born (such as the restoration of my Grandmother’s bassinet), I recently started filling out her baby book. I chose a really pretty white one with pink monogram (we’re revealing name at her birth, so stay tuned)!
First up was filling out the pages regarding my pregnancy and our family history. I want her baby book to be a compilation of all the meaningful tokens of love pulled together for her to have forever. I’ve included swatches of fabric, pictures, and more. Also included is a sweet letter to her (see below)… and you can bet I’m excited to continue writing her little love notes even beyond her arrival!
Baby book pages that are pre-filled with questions is a fabulous choice for moms-to-be. If your book doesn’t contain questions, then simply make up your own. My page above included questions like “Our first reaction to the pregnancy” and “How we celebrated.” We found out in August the night before I had a business trip to Chicago. I couldn’t sleep a wink but my calm-cool-and-collected husband fell asleep in minutes. We were both so thrilled and have truly not stopped celebrating since that August day!
I’m so lucky to have my husband’s baby book. My mother-in-law even has sweet little details from her own baby shower when she was pregnant with my husband, including the bear napkin above. It brings tears to my eyes that I can include these family keepsakes together for our own baby girl. Although my own baby book is in storage, but I’ll be able to get it soon. (I also love the idea of including baby pictures of both me and my husband in her nursery as well as her baby book.)
My husband is on the left and yours truly is on the right. I love that I’m wearing an Easter outfit because our little girl will be born very close to Easter: I’m due May 3rd and Easter is April 20th.
Here’s my letter to our sweet baby:
“Dear Baby Girl,
Your Daddy and I are so excited to meet you so soon! You are due in less than 7 weeks! We just decided on your name and will reveal it to everyone at the hospital! You are already the joy of our lives, even when you have hiccups at 4:00 am! We dream all day about what you will look like, we can’t stop staring at the ultrasound photos! Will you have curly hair like Mommy? Will you have straight hair like Daddy? We both can’t wait for you to be here, see your nursery, and meet Henry dog. He is so excited about you! He guards your crib! We love you already baby girl!
See you soon!
