Serving pretty drinks that make guests smile is an easy task with these fun and spunky plastic animal drink stirrers. They are a great thrill for a birthday party or they can simply turn afternoon drinks into a festive event any day of the week. Sipping on a cold drink is just the type of diversion we love to enjoy on a long, hot summer afternoon.
Things You’ll Need:
- Plastic toy ponies (we found ours at Michael’s) or other plastic animals of your choice
- Plastic stir sticks
- Electric drill and drill bit (the drill bit we used was 7/64th of an inch)
- Food-grade spray paint
- Glue (optional)
Step 1: Drill a hole in the bottom center of each plastic animal. Reverse the drill to remove the drill bit. You’ll want to make sure your drill bit is large enough to fit the stir stick inside the body of the pony. The drill bit we used was 7/64th of an inch. Our stirrers fit snugly into the drilled holes in the plastic animals, but you can use glue for extra hold if desired.
Step 2: Set up a drop cloth outside, and paint the plastic animals and stir sticks. Cover both sides, allowing them to dry between sprays, and spray the tops of the plastic animals to ensure the drink stirrers will look good from every angle. Let completely dry before using in glasses.
Tip: Food-grade spray paint is sold in the baking section of most craft stores. You can use regular spray paint if you prefer to only paint the plastic animals and not the stir sticks. Any portion of the stir stick that will come in contact with the glass or drink should be painted with food-safe spray paint.
