We’re coming up fast on Mother’s Day — last-minute shoppers out there, this one’s for you! A simple do-it-yourself wire photo display can be customized with any favorite word or phrase and is a great way to pay tribute to a life full of love and laughter. Read on for all of the quick-and-easy steps required to make this personalized gift especially for mom.
To create your DIY photo display, start with a pliable but thick gauge wire. My go-to for projects like this is gold floral wire. The 12 gauge weight gives it heft, but it also is incredibly workable, requiring nothing but your bare hands to manipulate.
Although the options for your chosen word are practically endless (your mom’s name, the word “mom,” perhaps “family”), I decided to go with something both simple and sweet—”love.” I gently curved the wire into a cursive rendering of the word and then went back over it a couple of times to smooth out any kinks or inconsistencies.
As a final detail, I used a pair of pliers to give the ends of my wire photo display a quick curled effect. With the word smoothed out and the ends finished off nicely, I hung it from a couple of tiny nails hammered into the wall. Now, it was time to add my photos. To do so, I used a handful of mini wooden clothespins snagged from the dollar section at Target. Supplement your DIY photo display with a box of chocolates and a card, and mom is sure to feel extra loved this year!
