With warmer temperatures in full swing for most of us, there is no better time than the present to head outdoors and give your home’s curb appeal a bit of a boost. There are so many simple ways to not only make the outside of your home more presentable to visitors and guests, but also add a pretty penny to the value of your home.
Give the outside of your home a good spring cleaning. Remove weeds from flower beds, mow your lawn regularly and trim any overgrown shrubs and trees to keep your curb appeal in tip-top shape.
Declutter, declutter, declutter. One or two decorative pieces add a bit of personality to the front of your home, but a front porch full of knickknacks and lawn ornaments can be distracting. Pick out a few of your favorites and pack up the rest for storage or donation, or rotate your favorites throughout the year.
A few simple projects can make a big difference, for instance adding shutters or wooden porch columns. Repairing rotten wood and peeling paint is also a sure bet to add a few bucks to your pocket in the long (and short) run.
Add a splash of color with flowering plants if your yard is lacking spice. Prone to a brown thumb? Use potted plants for an easy way to add color without having to commit to taking care of a larger plant season after season.
With just a few simple weekend projects, you can make your home stand out as one of the most appealing in the neighborhood. Happy sprucing!
