Malcolm Hill is an NYC-based, mixed media artist, and you know I love almost anything from the Big Apple. But Hill’s work is easy to love for lots of reasons. It’s big and bold, yet somehow still conveys a subtle softness. Just look at these two hanging sculptures. First of all, I’m crazy about three-dimensional wall art — I mean, let’s think outside of the “flat painting” box, shall we people? These pieces in particular are stunning. I adore the starkness of the white palate juxtaposed with his ingenious use of texture, shadowing and negative space. Those elements put together create such fabulous lines, especially when mounted on that curved wall!
And his paintings aren’t too shabby, either. The earthy tones and fluid lines remind me of another favorite artist, Rex Ray, who is sold at a favorite haunt of mine, Jonathan Adler. You couldn’t go wrong with either one of these gorgeous pieces hung on your wall! (Hill on the left, Ray on the right.)
