DIY Letter Favor Pouches

Have you ever tried sewing on paper? Well if you need a quick and affordable party favor, you just might give it a whirl. I made these alphabet favors with just some paper and my sewing machine. These letter-shaped pouches are even lined with wax paper so you can fill ’em up with treats! Here’s the how-to.

Supplies:

Colored paper (Regular computer paper weight, not cardstock)
Wax paper
Scissors
Sewing machine
Candy or confetti for filling

First, you’ll need to cut out your letters. You can freehand these or print off a font from the computer as a template. You’ll need two letters for each pouch. If you draw them freehand, draw one of each letter, then trace and cut a second.

Cut out squares of wax paper, just larger than your letters. You’ll need two for each pouch. Sandwich the two pieces of wax paper between your letters.

Making sure your letters are aligned with each other. Sew around your letters through all four layers about 1/4 inch in from the edges. Leave a one- or two-inch gap in your stitches for filling.

Fill your letters with candy or confetti! You can use a funnel for filling if you find it helpful. To finish, sew together the gap so your treats are completely enclosed in the letters.

You could spell out names, special occasions, initials and even ages. These make great favors and are so adaptable for all sorts of celebrations. Happy sewing!
