Add a little color and creativity to your Thanksgiving dinner table this year. Dipping walnuts a fall staple, in bright colors makes the perfect base for Turkey Day place cards. They’re quick and simple to make, and help your guests easily find their seat so they can dig right into that wonderful feast you’ve prepared.
You’ll need walnuts, craft paint, a paint brush, cardstock, watercolors, glue sticks and a hot glue gun, and scissors.
Choose walnuts that easily sit upright, if possible. Paint a portion of each walnut with craft paint, giving the shell a “color dipped” look. Set aside to dry.
Meanwhile, print or write your guests’ names onto cardstock and cut into flag shapes. Lightly paint the end of each flag with watercolor (avoid getting the text wet). Let dry.
Place a dot of hot glue on the back of the bottom edge of a flag and attach it to the top of a painted walnut. If desired, run your fingers in a curved motion along the each flag to give it a wavy shape.
Set your Thanksgiving table and put a walnut place card at each place setting.
