Graduation season is in full swing! If you know someone who’s graduating but aren’t able to attend the graduation, this is the perfect gift to send. A “graduation gram,” as I like to call it, is a mailable graduation cap, filled with money, a gift card or other goodies — no packaging required.
Small round box with a lid
Paint and paintbrush
Pen for addressing
Cut the cardboard into a square, about 2 inches wider on each side than the round box. Paint both the cardboard square and your box black, or any color of your choice. Let them dry.
Hand paint a tassel onto the painted cardboard square. Use a different color, such as a school color.
To finish off the top of the cap, cut a small, cardboard circle and paint it. Hot glue it right in the center of the cap, at end of the tassel.
Write your “To” and “From” addresses on the cap. If you painted it black, I recommend writing with a white gel pen.
Lastly, adhere the decorated and addressed cap to the lid of your box with hot glue. Fill the box with your goodies of choice. Put the lid on the box, so it’s safe for shipping, and seal it shut with hot glue or packing tape.
Take the graduation gram to the post office to get appropriate postage and send it on its way. As long as all parts of the cap are securely attached (nothing loose or hanging — no real tassels, for instance) you can mail it without an additional box.
You just made the typical graduation gift infinitely better!
