    Earwax, or cerumen, is a colored discharge that is formed in the ear canal. Far from being something that should be removed, it is part of a process that protects our ears. Earwax is basically ear-sweat, a waxy substance that carries dirt, dust and some infectious agents away from the middle ear through the ear canal from the eardrum to the outer ear. What kind of earwax you have depends on where your ancestors came from.
