    Some jobs put the worker in untidy situations that can be hazardous. Most of us would avoid these jobs at all costs. The phrase, "somebody has to do it" unfortunately usually rings true; people put themselves through extreme hardship on a daily basis to provide essential public services and earn a living.

  • Why Do Chefs Wear Checked Pants?

    Most chefs and restaurant cooks wear a black-and-white checked pattern on their pants called houndstooth. These pants, often baggy and loose, aren't meant to be fashionable. Instead, these baggy checked pants are worn loose to give chefs greater ease of movement. Chefs are constantly bending, turning, lifting and moving, and having to perform this job in tight pants would be difficult. Checked chefs' pants also provide large pockets for storing tools, dirty towels or even snacks. The loose pants also help chefs keep cool in hot kitchens.

    If you have watched the show "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel, then you know that some people have the dirtiest jobs in the world. Their job may involve cleaning up feces, working in coal mines or repairing septic tanks. However, there may be a dirty job that appeals to you, and you wish to seek out a position in that field.
