How Often Should I Feed Live Minnows to My Bass?
-
Bass Eating Habits
-
Bass require quite a bit of food each day. One bass eats approximately five to eight live minnows a day. You may place all of the minnows in the tank at the beginning of each day, or at intervals throughout the day, so long as you are feeding each bass at least five minnows. You do not really have to worry about putting too many minnows in the tank as bass will only eat the minnows when they are hungry.

Factor in Other Food
-
Bass should be eating more than just minnows. On a daily basis, in addition to feeding minnows, you also should consider feeding the bass two to three large goldfish. If you feed them goldfish as well, they only need about five minnows per day. Note that this can become very expensive. At approximately 10 to 20 cents each, live minnows can cost almost $400 annually for each bass that you need to feed. Also, having bass in an aquarium or tank can become difficult to maintain, as bass can triple their size in merely a year.
Bottom Line
-
Bass should be fed approximately five minnows a day, if they are also being fed two to three large goldfish. It helps to establish a routine for feeding time. Bass tend to eat at night, so perhaps replace the supply of minnows before you go to bed. Realize that bass grow quickly, since they eat frequently and may, therefore, become difficult to maintain.
