How Long After You Submit a Resume Should You Hear About a Job?
-
Follow up with a Call
-
How long it takes for you to hear back often depends on the size of the company and how many resumes it is likely to receive. It also depends on whether the company has a dedicated personnel department to sift through resumes or if it's the manager's role to do so. If you haven't heard back within a week it might be because the recruiter simply hasn't found the time to read through it yet. Allow a week to 10 days before making a follow-up call.

Be Cautious of Busy Employers
-
In some cases, unfortunately, your resume may not have passed the test. In others, the employers may be so busy they don't wish to be reminded they haven't had a chance to look through your resume and emailing or calling them won't help you get the job.
Bottom Line
-
No hard and fast rule exists, but generally it's better to follow up a resume than not, as you'll demonstrate enthusiasm and the recruiters will remember you. Make sure you wait at least a week, perhaps a little longer for bigger companies.
