How Much Wine Should I Serve at My Wedding?
-
Two Glasses per Person
-
Assuming you are serving only wine with dinner, the rule of thumb is to provide two glasses of wine per guest. A standard bottle of wine (750 ml) will yield approximately six glasses. A case of wine (12 bottles) will yield approximately 72 glasses of wine. So 100 guests consuming two glasses of wine each would require a total of 200 glasses; three cases would be sufficient.

Beer and Liquor
-
You should also factor in any beer or liquor you might be serving. Serving beer in addition to wine could lower the wine count. It might be difficult to determine, but it would help if you knew what majority of your guests were beer drinkers. If you do not know, go with the original estimate of wine. It is always better to have more than needed than not enough.
Bottom Line
-
Providing enough wine for each guest to have two glasses is the safest bet, but the amount can decrease if other alcohol is available. And remember, it is also important to determine what type of wine you should serve. If your menu consists of fish and chicken, then only white wine would be appropriate. However, having both red and white wine available to your guests would be the best option regardless of the menu. Keep in mind, more people drink white wine than red, so calculate the quantity accordingly.
