What to Wear When Girls Snowboard and Ski
-
Thick, Warm Clothes Are Best for Cold Days
-
In mid-winter, you probably will encounter below-freezing temperatures and falling snow on the slopes. In these conditions, most snowboarding veterans recommend a lined snow jacket, snow pants, thick snow gloves and a scarf or face mask. Layer this gear over thermal underwear, thick wool or acrylic socks and a fleece pullover. Helmets are always recommended, but you'll want a warm hat if you don't use one. Falling snow is difficult to see through, so make sure you have ski goggles to protect your eyes and face.

Too Many Layers Will Weigh You Down on Warm Days
-
If you're skiing or snowboarding in the spring, you probably will have a warmer, sunny day on the slopes, so you won't need as many thick layers of clothing. You still will need same protective, water-resistant outerwear, but you can make small adjustments to stay comfortable, such as taking the lining out of your jacket, skipping the scarf and fleece pullover, or wearing sunglasses instead of ski goggles. You can also buy lightweight gloves and snow socks that are appropriate for warmer days.
Bottom Line
-
Mountain weather varies greatly, so it's always a good idea to pack extra layers. You can add or remove them as needed. Always wear appropriate winter sport gear that is water resistant, breathable and comfortable. Buy or borrow proper gear if you don't have any. Many places sell cute and practical girls' snow gear, and street clothes, especially cotton, absorb moisture and will not keep you warm or dry in the snow.
