When an owner refuses a tip, it is usually to avoid offending employees who make a lower wage than the owner or simply because they do not typically count on tips to enhance their salary.

Since tipping expectations change from one salon to the next, either count on offering a tip or make things easy on yourself during check-in by asking what is customary at that particular establishment. The majority of salon owners would much rather have you relaxed and comfortable during your visit than anxious and unsure over something as simple as tipping.
