Should I Cover My Couch or Buy a New One?

Before replaing an old couch, consider a slip cover.

Slip Cover

A comfortable couch with distasteful upholstery could benefit from a slip cover, as a cover is generally less expensive than a new couch. If the frame and spring system are in good shape, a slip cover will revitalize the couch, and match the couch to your decorating scheme.

Buy a New Couch

A couch that's no longer comfortable, or is damaged, should be replaced. Also replace the couch when size is an issue, such as if you have moved to a smaller space or have gained family members.

Bottom Line

Cover your couch when the appearance is the only issue. Replace the couch if the actual structure is in question, because of damage or size issues.
