In particular, the curvature and slope of a shower ceiling is important to the distribution of steam. Steam is not maximized "if the shower ceiling is flat," states an article in Fine Home Building magazine. A curved ceiling, however, makes condensation distribution more even.

Steam showers can be custom designed. Steam showers are not popular with some people due to phobias. Steam can cloud and prohibit vision--making you feel enclosed. Even shower stall doors made of acrylic and/or fiberglass will become fogged. Because of this, according to Fine Home Building, "some people find being enveloped in steam too claustrophobic".

Fine Home Building states that this cost can be but the beginning of expenditures, depending upon the elegance of the shower design. A vapor barrier and/or bath fan can be additional help in distributing moisture and steam.
