One to Two Years is the General Guideline
It's best to replace hot tub filter cartridges at least every one to two years, according to Hot Tub Works. Filter cartridges are made of fibrous material that loosens over time, allowing particles into your pump which can ultimately damage it.
It Depends on Use
The filter size, frequency of cleaning and how often you use the hot tub are all factors that can affect how often you need to replace your filter cartridge, according to RH Tubs. Rinse your filter after each water change and let it soak in a cartridge cleaning solution to help keep your filter in good shape for longer.
Use the one- to two-year mark as a guideline when changing your cartridge filter, but take into consideration how often you use and maintain the spa. No matter what the age of the filter cartridge, RH Tubs recommends replacing the filter cartridge if it is cracked, if the fabric is beginning to come loose or if the filter cartridge remains dingy after cleaning.
