How Much Should My Four-Month-Old Weigh?
-
Weight Range
-
According to standardized growth charts created by the CDC and used by pediatricians to monitor the physical growth of children, there is a range for what a four-month-old baby should weigh. Boys that are four months old typically weigh between 11 and 18 lbs. and girls of that age typically weigh between 9.5 to 16 lbs.

Percentile Ranges
-
Growth charts are based on the height and weight of thousands of children. Through this data, the CDC created a range of what is a normal height and weight for a child at any given age. By following the chart, your child will fall into a percentile. If your child is in the 10th percentile for weight, it means that 90 percent of children his age weigh more than he does.
Bottom Line
-
There is no ideal percentile or weight for your baby. What is important is to monitor any changes in percentile pattern. For example, if your child, who typically weighed in the 10th percentile suddenly registers in the 95th percentile, this may signal a problem that you should discuss with your pediatrician.
