How High Should I Mount My LCD TV on the Wall?
-
Viewing Angle and Clarity
-
For the most comfortable and clearest viewing, Crutchfield Electronics advises mounting LCD TVs at eye level on the wall such that from the desired seating location the eyes look directly at the middle of the screen. This should be around 3 feet off the ground in a typical setup for best picture clarity and comfort.

Other LCD Mounting Considerations
-
When selecting TV mount height, factor in light entry angles and screen tilt. Avoid direct light shining on the screen and estimate a distance from viewer to screen of two-to-three times the screen width. Some mounting brackets allow angled mounting to tilt the TV down toward the viewer, allowing for higher mounting while still maintaining a dead-center viewing angle.
Bottom Line
-
The most important considerations are picture quality and comfort for the greatest number of viewers in the TV room. Hanging the screen exactly at eye level or angled downward a foot or so above eye level will give the best clarity. Comfort depends on individual room setup and taste.
