How Much Should the Pizza Delivery Guy Be Tipped?
-
Tip Like Basic Food Delivery
-
Since pizza is, after all, food, the simplest method of calculating a tip is to base it on a percentage of the purchase price. The standard tip for food delivery, according to CNN Money, is "10 percent of the bill (excluding tax), at least $1 for bills up to $10. Should tip 15 to 20 percent for a difficult delivery."

Some Argue Pizza Delivery Warrants More
-
According to Mike Lynn, associate professor of consumer behavior at the Cornell Hotel School, an appropriate tip for the pizza delivery guy is at least $2 per pizza, which in many cases may be more than 20 percent of the order cost. He claims this is appropriate because "food delivery can be dangerous if delivering to crime-ridden neighborhoods or driving in bad weather, etc."
Bottom Line
-
Base your tip to the pizza delivery guy on the 15 to 20 percent standard, but take into consideration additional factors that might call for an increased tip. For example, if you live in a dangerous neighborhood or are ordering late at night or in bad weather, a larger tip might be appropriate.
