    A close relative of horseradish and turnip, the watermelon radish is crisp and has a slightly sweet peppery taste. The watermelon radish grows to be somewhat larger than a regular radish--about 3 inches around. The skin is multicolor: white on top, green around the middle and pink near the bottom, with a bright red inner flesh. Fixing meals with a watermelon radish is simple due to the vegetable's versatility. It can be grated raw and added to a tossed salad, sliced to add some extra crunch to sandwiches or used like a turnip and sauteed as a side dish ingredient.
