PAL Nintendo Wii video games, which are used in Europe, will not work in an NTSC Wii, which is the broadcast format for North American games. To get PAL Wii games to work on an NTSC Wii, you must be running the Wii firmware 3.2 or lower with a swap disc. This disc, called the FreeLoader, temporarily patches the NTSC Wii system to trick it into working PAL Wii games. If you are running Wii firmware 3.3 or higher, you cannot play PAL games on your NTSC Wii.
The PAL version of the Nintendo Wii is from the European region, while the NTSC Nintendo Wii is from the United States region.
