You add it so that you can choose between the two. One way is with Bootcamp, which Apple describes here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.htm l The other way uses Parallels: http://www.parallels.com/landingpage/dskd10/ Either way you can move between either Mac or Windows depending on which one you want–both on the same machine.
