  • How to Cut Up a Squirrel

Years ago, when more people hunted for their food, squirrel was commonly eaten. Today, fewer people hunt squirrel, although it is popular in some areas of the country. There is no season for squirrel, you do not need special tags to hunt it. Since they are small, it will take more of them to fill a pot, and like many other meats, it can be tasty if cooked correctly. Whether you are going to stew it, grill it, or fry it, squirrel will cook more evenly if cut up first.

  • Cleaning Squirrels

Squirrel hunting season is almost upon us in most areas of the country, and many hunters will venture into the woods this fall in the hopes of getting a full "mess" of squirrels for their pots. There is a simple, effective cleaning method that hunters have been using for generations. I call it the "Slit, step, pull method" of skinning.
