Modesty in dress, behavior and attitude generally comes down to acting and dressing in way that does not call unusual attention to a person. While it is largely used in reference to clothing choices among religious groups, it includes many more facets of human behavior. It does not mean covering one's entire body, self-deprecation or false humility. Modesty can simply mean avoiding the extremes in language, dress and behavior.
The Bible often mentions the power of words and how they can build up or tear down others. One of the key verses on this subject, Proverbs 18:21, says that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Several Christian teachings on the power of the words we use can provide a foundation for learning to choose our words wisely.
Inner beauty is composed of qualities such as kindness, sensitivity, intelligence, compassion and a loving heart. Teaching inner beauty to Christian girls is beneficial in a society that focuses so much on the more superficial and fleeting beauty of the outer figure. Developing and strengthening their inner beauty will help them have an impact on society. It also will help them fight the pressures and societal aspects that direct them to live by a standard of outward beauty that has no lasting value or impact.
For most children, Halloween is a time to dress up as a favorite character and collect buckets upon buckets of candy. For their parents, Halloween is a time filled with anguish over possible cavities. Although the focus of Halloween tends to be on treats and costumes, it is possible to teach about Halloween in a way that reflects Christian doctrine and teachings. Young Christians can celebrate Halloween while they learn about the Bible.
Sunday school teachers and parents introduce children at an early age to the Bible story of the Ten Commandments. Very young children have understandable difficulty grasping the complex list. Wait until youngsters complete Kindergarten and First Grade, then teach the words that God wrote on Moses' stone tablets. Seven to eight-year-old second graders are ready to begin studying the Ten Commandments. Don't expect perfect memorization and recitation. Instead, focus on the meaning of each commandment.

Children see and hear so much negativity around them in today's world. Kids are exposed to instant news on television and the Internet, as well as overhearing adults talking about world and local problems. The best thing adults can give children to help them overcome the negative aspects of life is God. Parents and Christian teachers can help plant the Word of God, as well as good Christian values in our children. Christian teachings and crafts are tools to accomplish this goal.
Movies are very much like modern-day parables. Jesus, along with other Jewish teachers, used stories to teach spiritual principles to followers. Parables were a powerful tool in Jesus' day to illustrate these spiritual teachings by using entertainment. Using Hollywood films to teach Christian principles today is a powerful way of capturing a congregation's attention and demonstrating the lesson you're teaching. Some great movies to use are the Chronicles of Narnia, Gladiator and Les Miserables.
Movies, like parables, often have a deeper meaning and message behind the storyline. Identifying these deeper principles and overall message can help you teach Christian principles. The Earth is God's and everything in it was made by him, which makes it easy to find his principles in all things, even movies. Some of the easiest movies to find Christian principles in are inspirational films that already have an overt positive message. Epics also make good movies to teach Christian principles from, as they center around the struggle of good and evil.
Many Christians are under the impression there is a singular bible that is available to all and is undisputed as the true word of God. Both of these are false assumptions. Not only has the Bible yet to be translated into some 2,393 languages, but also the actual content of the bible varies as well. One of the best examples of this is the Ethiopian bible.
Saint Sophia is the name of a saint who lived in Roman times. It is also the name of churches around the world but are not necessarily dedicated to Sophia, the saint. It is thought that various places of worship are so named due in part to translation of the original Latin word "sancta" meaning "holy" to the German "sankta" meaning "saint." The Greek "haghia" ("holy" or "saint") and "Sophia" ("wisdom" or the female name), appear as "Haghia Sophia" to denote the intended meaning of "Saint Sophia" which is "holy wisdom."
