Assemble the supplies you need before you start. I am using double stick tape, but you can use gift wrapping tape or magic tape which are nearly invisible.

The first step is to measure the paper you need. Some papers come marked with a grid on the back which makes this process easy, but some is plain and has to be handled differently. Check to see that the width of the paper will go around the package which will be the case for most normal sized packages. For the length, start about 3/4 up the side of the box.

Fold up the paper and crease at about the same 3/4 way up the box.

Lay the paper roll flat on the table and crease the full length of the paper.

Take then loose edge and wrap it over the taped down piece. Mark where you want the seam and fold back the excess paper.

Place a strip of double face tape in the middle, approximately the width of the box.

Turn the package with the open end facing you, smooth over to the corner and crease the paper down in a straight line.

Now fold the flap over to the middle, tight all the way to the bottom of the package, and then crease the remaining paper along the outside line.

Fold down the tip about 1 to 1/2 inches.

Leaving a tail about 10", measure the ribbon around the package  one direction.

Now measure the ribbon going the opposite way around the package.

Leaving a tail again about 10", cut off the ribbon.

Find the middle of the ribbon and lay it across the package with the un-seamed side facing up.

Flip the package over, twist the ribbon in the opposite direction and bring it around to the front of the package.

Using a pair of scissors and starting close to the knot, pull the ribbon against the blade to curl it.

Stretch the ribbon out and try to make your pull go all the way to the end in one pass. This will get the best curl.

I used curling ribbon for this baby present because it is an easy finishing touch that is really quick, which is usually what I need when running to a shower! I am always working on something until the last minute.
