Grinding the beans on a coarse setting will help avoid having grounds in your finished cup of coffee.

Bring 3 cups of water to a boil. I use an electric kettle, but you can use the microwave or a pan on your stove top.

Place 3 heaping Tablespoons of coarsely ground coffee into the French press. The rule is 1 heaping Tablespoon for each cup of coffee you're making.

Push the plunger down very slowly. A slow, steady motion will help keep grounds from sneaking into your final brew. It should take about 20 second to push down the plunger.
I love coffee no matter how it's made (except instant) but there's something special about French press coffee. You become part of the process. For just a few minutes, you become a sort of coffee scientist observing and regulating every aspect of your final brew. It makes you appreciate what you're about to drink. And if you do it right, man... what a good cup of coffee!
