For a small child, I use strips about 24" long. A quilting ruler works perfectly, but you could also just cut a piece of cardboard.
3.
Wrap the tulle around and around the ruler or cardboard. These strips don't have to be exactly the same in length.
4.
Cut through all layers of the tulle at each end of the template. Follow this procedure for all the colors of tulle being used.
5.
Measure the waist of the child (granddaughter - isn't she cute!) you are making this project for.
6.
Using a piece of ribbon and leaving a tail of about 10", tie a knot at each end of the measurement and then cut leaving another 10" tail.

The tulle with the glitter dots was a little more stiff than the other materials I used and I thought it "stood out" a little too much. I tried trimming the ends into points, and I think that did the trick. I think next time I will try pointing all the strips which should make it look like a "fairy".

To add ribbon accents, measure the length you want, double that and cut. Attach with the same method as the tulle strips.
Every little girl loves to play dress-up and these easy to make tutus are a favorite. Gather some materials from a local craft store (I used 4 rolls of 6" tulle and a variety of ribbon) and make a girl's (or Mom's) dream come true.
