1.
The Materials: Wooden beads, 2.74 mm jewelry wire, thin jewelry wire, chain, pliers, 4 jump rings, a hammer and a necklace clasp
2.
Before making the metal pendant to wrap the beads, I created a color pattern and measured the length of the beads.
3.
Once I knew how long the beads would be on the pendant, I cut 2.7 mm-thick jewelry wire to fit my pattern.
4.
As you can see the wire is round, but fits the size I'll need to add the beads. Next, I'll flatten the wire to create a bead base.
5.
To flatten the jewelry wire I used a hammer to lightly tap the wire. It made a nice patina on the cement.
6.
Getting the wire flat was easy, but I had to be careful I didn't break the wire which was really malleable. I also bent the edges to create a loop so I could fasten the chain later.
7.
After flattening the wire, I began to add the beads and twist them on with wire. It was much more challenging than I thought it would be!
8.
As I added beads, I couldn't get them to align straight like the glass bead pic I was using as my example. Luckily, as they shifted into a cluster, they looked totally cute.
10.
After I attached the beads, I fastened on a chain I had measured to fit around my neck where I wanted the necklace to rest on my chest. Unfortunately, I forgot to get jump rings to attach the chain, so I had to use the thin jewelry wire I used to attach the beads and knot the ends.
I had some fun with colorful beads when I made this necklace from wooden beads, metal jewelry wire and chain.
