Use a comb to part off the front of your hair from ear to ear. The section should slightly wider than you would like the finished braid to be.

Choose a starting point for the braid and split a square section into 3 separate strands with your fingers. This braid starts on a deep side part but you could also start at one ear and braid all the way across for a more dramatic effect.

Begin braiding by crossing the left, outside strand over the center strand, switching hands, then crossing the right strand over the center.

Braid your way around your face adding an even amount of hair with each pass but don't be to picky. This is a casual, messy look so it's good to be a little irregular.

Don't let go of the braid or your hard work will unravel. If you need to, secure the ends with a small hair tie before pinning it back

Lift the crown of your hair up and pin the braid underneath with 2 bobby pins. Cross them over the braid and each other in opposite directions to create an "X".
