What’s the best gift for a pet that you can make yourself?
We challenged you to provide your answer to that question for a chance to win the eHow Knowledge Guru crown and a $300 gift card—and the response was huge. Hundreds of you submitted entries, and almost two thousand of you cast your vote for the best DIY gift.
There was no shortage of inventive entries, with ideas ranging from homemade dog biscuits, toys, beds, blankets, collars and pet clothing, right up to plain and simple TLC.
But there can be only one Guru of DIY pet gifting. The votes have been counted and we’re pleased to announce the lucky winner. eHow’s second Knowledge Guru is …Katie Fogle!
Her idea for Peanut Butter Puppy Poppers won her a $300 Amazon gift card and the Knowledge Guru crown. Here’s her winning entry:
Peanut Butter Puppy Poppers
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then add to dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container. This is the original recipe, but I have found the cookies burn easily.
These are great and super easy to make!
The four runners up, who submitted the next most popular entries, are Jonathan Hamilton, Bash Vargas, Cristal Malek and Maria Julieta Fernandez. Each wins a $25 Amazon gift card.
Many of you have already asked about our next contest. Watch this space and our Facebook page for details of our next seasonal challenges. You’ll have two more opportunities to win that $300 Amazon gift card and runner-up prizes over the coming weeks. The next seasonal challenge will be announced on Monday, June 6, with five days to submit your entry.
Many congrats to the winning entries! We hope Katie enjoys her prize and being eHow’s second Knowledge Guru—and that your pup enjoys his homemade treat!
