Biotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses the body's own immune system to either fight cancer, or reduce the side effects caused by some other cancer treatments. Biotherapy is known by several names and there are also different types of biotherapy. It is administered the same way as chemotherapy and does have some side effects.
Biotherapy, also called immunotherapy, is a treatment for cancer in which the body's own immune response to cancer is reinforced and enhanced. This is accomplished by stimulating the production of immune cell secretions. Biotherapy is also used to reduce side effects of other cancer treatments. Among the weapons of biotherapy are substances called monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and growth factors
