EatRight.org, the official website for the American Dietetic Association, couldn't stress strongly enough that eating healthy is the most effective way to lose weight and ward off illness. Tellingly, an ongoing USDA Diet and Health Knowledge Survey asked meal planners if they thought there was any importance in following official dietary guidelines. One in eight respondents rated the guideline low importance.
