Audio books give us the pleasure of reading--well, being read to--while allowing us to do something else with our eyes. With audio books, stories can accompany us as we drive, walk down the street, or work out. Many books are already available in audio format and can be purchased as a CD or downloaded. You can also record your own audio books for the iPod and Mac--either from content you created or from your favorite stories.
An audio book is essentially just a very long song--it simply entails someone reading text instead of singing. With that in mind, it's extremely easy to transfer an audio book over to an Apple iPod using iTunes software. You can even download audio books directly from the iTunes store, and place them on the iPod from there. As long as the iPod has enough storage space to hold the entire book, the process is very smooth.
Just like you can read books on your iPod for free. You can listen to free audio books on your iPod. Listening to audio books on your iPod is even easier than reading books on it. Many audio books come in mp3 format so they are supported by all iPods and the free Audio books come from the same place as the free text format books; Project Gutenberg.
