Cars will have one of two designs: On some cars, you replace only the small halogen bulb inside the larger glass headlamp, and on other cars (usually older ones), the inner bulb and larger headlamp are one piece that must be replaced. Be sure to consult your car's manual for extra reference. For example the acura had additional steps such as debolting the battery to get a more workspace as well as a weather seal and hold-in wire that needed to be removed and replaced.

Comment by JimCheng

I have a 2004 Mazda 2i sedan, I can't see where to access the lower mounting screws for changing out the headlamp assembly

Comment by kathra2003

I DID IT!!!!! This was so helpful. It wasn't as easy as the video, because of all the stuhh crammed behind my headlight, but I got my hand back there and got it done. I didn't even need tools. Before I found the site, I almost started to disassemble the whole headlight.

Comment by annab

@ hawkirk:<br/>- Me too! :)

Comment by g-regular

I've got a Xenon Conversion Kit (HID) that I am trying to install. Is there a "How To" for that? I'm still having some trouble trying to remove the original halogen lights on my car, but I have a good idea of what needs to be done, I'm just not sure. I guess I'll have to take it to a professional now.

Comment by hawkirk

This is so easy, even a girl can do it! It took about 10 minutes and saved me time and money. The instructions on how to are great. I highly recommend doing this job rather than getting someone else to do it.

Comment by Papa_Het

For something that's relatively simple it's worth investing time to carry out such jobs on the car. My Mum was charged over ?50 for having a headlight bulb changed by her Peugeot dealer. I had the same problem on my 206, saw how the guy did it in about 90 seconds and was charged a fiver for it. I'd still like to know how to do it as it was devastatingly simple, and a fiver still buys a couple of pints in this extortionate country!
