Kohler faucet designs, including the two-handle, 4-inch center set Kohler Revival bath faucet, require a little more attention to detail than other faucets in the same class. Read your Kohler faucet's homeowner's guide and installation manual before you begin your repair; you will be glad you did. If you do not have your Kohler product information, visit Kohler's website to find your faucet's specific information.

Step 1

Turn off the water supplies under the bathroom sink. Open the hot and cold levers to eliminate any back pressure.

Step 2

Unscrew the faucet's handle assemblies. Grasp each handle by its bell shaped base below the lever, and turn each of them counterclockwise to remove. Remove the two small brass splined adapters from the top of each Kohler faucet cartridge.

Step 3

Use a crescent wrench to unscrew each faucet cartridge. Turn them to the left with the wrench until you can remove them by hand. Screw in the new Kohler faucet cartridges by hand and secure with your crescent wrench.

Step 4

Reinstall the handle assemblies. Place the stem spline adapters on each stem. Set each handle and adjust their positions until they each shut off correctly. Screw each handle on by hand firmly.

Step 5

Turn the water supplies back on under the sink. Open and close the faucet handles several times to remove air from the faucet. Check for leaks around the handle bases and faucet spout.

Tip

Install the correct stem on each side: each stem is color-coded--red for hot on the left side, blue for cold on the right side. Close the sink drain off so that you do not lose any small faucet parts.

Warning

Do not over tighten the stems during installation--doing so can ruin the faucet or stem. Use no tools on the handles themselves, which can damage the finish.
